Speech Title: Exploring The Benefits Of Cancer Patient Online Peer Support And The Risks Of Misinformation That Could Lead To Treatment Discordance Or Nonadherence: A Mixed Methods Scoping Review

Biography: Leon completed his PhD in 2025 through the Australian government’s research training program via the University of Southern Queensland. His research area is cancer patient treatment nonadherence (in relation to cancer patient information and health professional / oncologist communication). He has published two articles on the topic (2023, 2025) with a third (2026) under review (pre-print published and available). The current abstract to be presented at the conference is a work in progress and will become his 4 th article once successfully reviewed and published. He is the holder of a master’s degree in health informatics from the University of Tasmania. His business-to-business background in Australia includes productivity solutions for medical professionals and relationship management services to medical centres. For over two decades (prior to Covid travel restrictions) Leon had been a media consultant to leading hospitals in Singapore (patient orientation media). He has also organized medical technology conferences in Japan, India and Singapore and an expert in sponsorship acquisition. Professor Raj Gururajan, University of Southern Queensland, is co-author of the current ‘work in progress’.
